Road trip photo diary: Oregon
The best part of another 2 days spent driving through beautiful Oregon. I don't think I even knew where this state was before we began planning this trip - let alone just how stunning it is. We stayed in pretty Astoria, another historic town which is just over the bridge that divides Washington and Oregon. I really loved this small town - especially at night - so many neon signs made it feel like walking through a film set. It had the best cafe yet for breakfast (Blueberry pancakes!), the Astoria Cafe. Back on the road and heading South, via busy Seaside and on to Depoe Bay for rather a late lunch. As evening approached we found ourselves driving through cloud and sea mist. We arrived in Coos Bay, Oregon just before sundown (and too late to eat at any of the restaurants which all closed at 9pm! Hello Taco Bell). Day 2 of Oregon, a quick photo-stop at the pretty town of Bandon, then various other beautiful stops. We visited the Prehistoric Gardens (upon my insistence) and then just before we entered California, came upon my favourite view so far, in the waters and coast surrounding Arch Rock. We spent the night in Eureka! (ok it doesn't really have an exclamation mark... it should though), about an hour's drive into California.
